- His father was a wealthy mining engineer.
- He began piano lessons at the young age of six.
- His parents sent him to boarding school when he turned eight.
- He graduated with a degree in law and was hired by the Ministry of Justice when he was just 19 years old!
- At age 23, he went back to school to study music, and in just two years was a professor of composition.
- In 1891 he traveled to America to conduct the New York Symphony Orchestra.
- His “1812 Overture” is one of his most famous pieces of music, and is most often associated with fireworks.
